SJAM Weekly Newsletter

Week At A Glance:  June 15 - 19, 2026

Dear Mustang Families,

Please forward this message to your child’s email.

This is a busy week of year-end assessments at SJAM. Study strategies have been reviewed in homeroom over the past several weeks, but here is a final short-term reminder to support students as they prepare:

🧘 Take Care of Your Body & Mind

  • Sleep 7–9 hours—memory consolidation depends on it.
  • Eat balanced meals and stay hydrated.
  • Exercise lightly to reduce stress.
  • Practice calmness techniques before exams (deep breathing, visualization).

✅ Reminder: Burnout reduces performance more than studying less does.

Tuesday June 16:

  • Grade 9 PAT – Math Part A
  • Grade 7 Math Final Part B (during class time)

Wednesday June 17:

  • Grade 8 Math Part B Final (during class time)

Thursday June 18:

  • Grade 8 Science Final (during class time)

Friday June 19:

  • Grade 9 PAT – Math Part B
  • Grade 7 and 8 Math Final – Part A (during class time)

Yearbook Distribution (to students that have paid)

We are excited to share Yearbooks arrived early! As a result, we are moving up our day for yearbook distribution to an earlier date.  Given CBE schools strive to be fiscally responsible with public funds, we are unable to provide a yearbook to students that ordered one and have not paid; yearbooks will be distributed on Tuesday June 23 (11:30 AM – 12:30 PM).

FEES

We also need to see an effort that other fees for 2025-26 are paid off in manageable installments. In high school, this practice will continue with yearbooks and tickets to graduation banquets being held back until efforts are made to submit payment for school fees.  If you have not yet ordered a yearbook and want one, please email Mr. Le directly so it can be added to your MyCBE fees:  CaLe@cbe.ab.ca

If your child went on the track meet, please make sure this fee has been paid in the parent MyCBE portal.  When fees are outstanding, we do work with parents to create a payment plan: please contact Ms. Reynolds (sareynolds@cbe.ab.ca) and Ms. Hornby (mahornby@cbe.ab.ca) - please make arrangements to pay all 2025-26 school fees by Friday June 19 or your child will face delays in picking up their yearbook.  Free autograph pages are provided to students who did not make this purchase.

Well-Being Homeroom

On Wednesday, students will participate in our last well-being homeroom of 2025-26.  Thank you to Ms. Billeck for generating proactive thinking on how our students can engage in summer wellness activities.  These articles may be good conversation starters at home:

Riverwatch Rescheduled

Due to severe rain, Riverwatch has been rescheduled to Wednesday June 24.  Ms. Roston will be in contact with impacted Grade 8 and 9 9 families.  Let’s hope for sunshine!

Summer School Orientation

On Thursday June 25, Grade 9 students who signed up for Math 15 summer school will gain access to the course.  Ms. Roston has booked Lab 24 during block 2, so students can go in, print the assignments and see how to navigate the course.

PE – Mr. Jones

We are currently in the process of cleaning and emptying all PE lockers in the locker rooms. Students were given opportunities last week to clear out their lockers and bring their belongings home.  Any items that remain in lockers will be bagged, labelled with the locker number, and placed in a designated area of the school for students to collect.  As our PE classes begin to wind down for the year, we continue to encourage students to come prepared with proper athletic footwear. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Together, We Make A Difference!
