October 19-23

Hello SJAM Families,

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for the CBE Well-being Series this past Wednesday. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout and engagement from our community.

SJAM Casino Fundraiser – We Need Your Help!

One of the most significant sources of fundraising revenue for SJAM is our upcoming Casino Fundraiser which is coordinated by SJAM's School Council. Funds raised through the casino directly support student opportunities and experiences throughout the school. These funds help purchase resources and equipment, support extracurricular programming, enhance learning spaces, and enrich opportunities for students beyond the classroom.

Our casino will take place on:

  • Friday, December 11
  • Saturday, December 12
  • Location: Ace Casino

In order for this important fundraiser to be successful, we require parent and guardian volunteers to fill a variety of roles. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided.

If you are able to support our school community by volunteering for a shift, please sign up using the link below:

Athletics Update

Soccer

We are incredibly proud of both our boys' and girls' soccer teams and the effort, determination, and sportsmanship they demonstrated throughout the season.

The boys battled right to the end in a thrilling 4-3 semifinal loss to GP Vanier, while the girls experienced a heartbreaking shootout loss to Simon Fraser. While the results did not go our way, both teams represented SJAM with pride and had fantastic seasons.

A MASSIVE thank you to our coaches:

  • Boys: Mr. Dougan and Mr. Le
  • Girls: Ms. Saker and Ms. Dawson

These opportunities simply would not be possible without staff members who generously volunteer their time, energy, and expertise. Their commitment provides invaluable experiences for our students, and we are extremely grateful for all they do.

Basketball Spectator Expectations

We are excited to support our student-athletes during basketball season and look forward to seeing strong school spirit at our games. To help ensure a positive experience for everyone, please review the following expectations with your child:

  1. Students must be in attendance during the school day (excluding excused absences such as medical appointments) in order to remain after school and attend home games as spectators.
  2. Students attending away games as spectators must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  3. Students are expected to remain in designated spectator areas while attending games.
  4. No food or drinks are permitted on the stage during games.
  5. Cell phones must be put away during games.
  6. Students must demonstrate respectful behaviour toward players, coaches, officials, spectators, and visiting schools at all times.

Our students represent SJAM whenever they attend athletic events. We expect all spectators to contribute positively to a welcoming, respectful, and supportive atmosphere.

Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful long weekend!
