October 4, 2026

Good afternoon, SJAM families,

We hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend! Please take a moment to review the updates and reminders for the week ahead.

School Reminders

  • A reminder that wheelie shoes are not permitted at school. While they can be lots of fun, they can also create safety concerns in busy hallways and common areas. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and enjoyable for all students.

Spirit Day – Dress for the Wrong Event!

On Thursday, October 8, students are invited to participate in our "Dress for the Wrong Event" Day!

Some fun ideas include:

  • Graduation, wedding, or other formal attire
  • Sports uniforms or athletic gear
  • Graduation caps and gowns
  • Pajamas
  • Lab coats or science-themed clothing

We look forward to seeing our students' creativity and school spirit!

Thanksgiving Holiday

Please note that Monday, October 12 is Thanksgiving Day. There will be no school for students.

CBE Caregiver Series: Mental Health & Youth

The CBE invites parents and guardians to participate in a free live online series focused on supporting child and youth well-being.

Hosted by Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) in collaboration with community experts, these sessions provide valuable information, resources, helplines, and services to support healthy child and youth development.

Important: Basketball Spectator Expectations

As basketball season begins, we are excited to cheer on our student-athletes and build positive school spirit. We ask families to review the following expectations with their children before attending games.

Home Games

  • Students must be in attendance during the school day (excluding approved absences such as medical or dental appointments) in order to remain after school and watch home games.
  • Students are expected to remain in designated spectator areas while attending games.
  • No food or drinks are permitted on the stage while watching games.
  • Cell phones must be put away during games.

Away Games

  • Students attending away games as spectators must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Respectful Conduct

  • Students must demonstrate respectful behaviour toward players, coaches, officials, spectators, and visiting schools at all times.
  • Our students represent SJAM whenever they attend athletic events. We expect all spectators to contribute positively to a welcoming, respectful, and supportive atmosphere.

Thank you for your partnership in helping create a positive and encouraging environment for all athletes, coaches, officials, and fans. We look forward to a fantastic basketball season!

Have a wonderful week ahead, SJAM families!
